Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to take charge of the design, installation, and maintenance of potable water, sewage, and stormwater pipeline networks. The successful candidate will have practical experience working with HDPE and Ductile Iron (DI) pipelines, as well as expertise in pumping station layouts and system commissioning. This role demands strong technical knowledge, excellent coordination abilities, and a thorough understanding of regional compliance standards to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
– Design and oversee the installation of HDPE and Ductile Iron (DI) pipelines for potable water, sewage, and stormwater systems.
– Plan and implement pumping station layouts, including selecting pumps, arranging valves, and performing surge protection and flow control calculations.
– Supervise trenching, bedding, pipe laying, welding for HDPE pipelines, and jointing for DI pipelines.
– Conduct hydrostatic pressure tests, leakage tests, and flushing procedures to verify system integrity.
– Manage the commissioning of pumps, control panels, and SCADA systems to ensure proper functionality.
– Ensure all activities comply with ASTM, ISO, BS, and local utility standards.
– Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for pumps, valves, and pipeline networks.
– Troubleshoot mechanical faults and optimize overall system performance.
– Coordinate closely with electrical and instrumentation teams to support integrated system operations.
– Prepare technical submittals, method statements, and inspection reports to document project progress and compliance.
Required Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
– 3 to 5 years of experience in facility coordination or similar project management roles.
– Practical knowledge of HVAC systems, DI, MS, SS, HDPE pipelines, and pump automation.
– Strong organizational and communication skills.
– Familiarity with Gulf-region compliance standards and safety regulations.
– Proficiency in MS Office applications.
